As followers of Jesus Christ, we believe we are members of his body and thus ought to love one another.
“Beloved, let us love one another, for love is from God, and whoever loves has been born of God and knows God.” 1 John 4:7
From this shared faith flows our purpose and values.
BeLoved Care is dedicated to supporting and empowering the Reformed community in providing Christ-centred, holistic care to our aged and infirm through home-care or a Christian care-home, until our heavenly Father calls them to their eternal home.
We believe that the Bible is the inspired and authoritative Word of God and is summarized faithfully in the Belgic Confession, Heidelberg Catechism, and Canons of Dort. From this foundation flow BeLoved Care’s values and practices:
We recognize the inherent value of each individual as being created in the image of God. This value is not lessened by illness, diagnosis or incapacitation. People are gifts from God, never burdens to society.
God created us with a primary need to love and be loved. Christ’s love for us and his command to love one another will underpin every undertaking by BeLoved Care.
Providing quality of life and maintaining dignity is of the utmost importance, and care will be focused on meeting each individual’s unique physical, emotional, spiritual, cultural and social needs.
Individuals will be enabled as much as possible to “age in place” – health services will be flexible to provide residents with the complex care they need, whether that be in their own home, or in the communal BeLoved Care Home.
We believe in the value of life from conception until natural death. End-of-life care will be focused on providing unfailing love, and will aim to support physical, emotional and spiritual well-being.
We recognize family as primary caregivers, and encourage and support the continued participation of family in the care of their loved ones through collaborative care plans and training opportunities.
We also recognize that family caregivers themselves often need care and will offer education, support and respite to minimize caregiver burnout.
Individual and corporate worship (including prayer, Scripture reading, song, and where possible, participation in live-stream corporate Sunday worship) is essential and will be encouraged, supported, facilitated, and expected.
Opportunities for social interactions will be facilitated in collaboration with local Reformed churches, local Christian schools, and through a dynamic volunteer program. We encourage and support a multi-generational environment, recognizing that the aged are to be esteemed and valued and have much to offer the youth.
We value qualified, caring Christian staff who strive for excellence in person-centered care. We strive for a positive working environment, to treat staff fairly, and to support continual learning and improvement opportunities.
We believe in transparency and in being held accountable for the care we provide, and thus welcome and encourage client feedback and strong oversight by families, churches, and board of governors.
We strive for financial stewardship, and aim to work collectively with clients, families, the communion of saints, volunteers, local deaconries, and government to provide financially accessible and fiscally responsible care.
“And let us not grow weary of doing good, for in due season we will reap, if we do not give up. So then, as we have opportunity, let us do good to everyone, and especially to those who are of the household of faith.”
Galatians 6:9-10
